Delainey Vogan // Picture Perfect

This project titled “Picture Perfect” is a series of digitally composed images that investigates familial relationships and the parental role of the eldest sibling(s). Through this series I navigate the untold narratives that aren’t present in traditional family portraits. The title “Picture Perfect” mocks the false narrative that family portraits portray and this series exposes the not so perfect family dynamics. This photo series connects to ‘The Human Condition’ as it illustrates the emotions, growth and conflict of familial relationships. The base of human existence is reliant on the social constructs that society performs. One of these constructs is family. Although family can mean undeniable love and acceptance it can also cause pain and conflict. This photo series comments on the social construct of family and its ability to come in all forms, good and bad.
